As a ministry of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Chapel School is a faith based preschool. Part of our daily curriculum involves a prayer before snack time, weekly/monthly lessons from a Sunday School curriculum "Welcoming the Little Ones" and the passing around of "Prayer Bear". "Prayer Bear" helps children to reflect and share what they are thankful for. Even our two year old children begin to understand this concept and are excited to share that they are thankful for mommy and daddy. Teachers help to model this concept by also sharing what they are thankful for. Our daily prayer, lessons and "Prayer Bear" prepare the children for Chapel Time with the Pastor at Christ the King. He meets with each class once a month. Children sit with him by the alter in the church sanctuary. Chapel Time allows children to once again visit the lessons from "Welcoming the Little Ones" with added songs, stories and prayers. During this time, children may share and reflect what is happening in their lives as it relates to the lesson shared by the Pastor. It is a wonderful time of joy and reflection for both the children and the staff.
Children are welcomed to Chapel Time with this song:
Come and sing together, come and sing together,
come and sing together, it's time to worship the lord.
At the end of each Chapel Time, Pastor, staff and children sing this song:
Go now in peace
Go now in peace
May the love of God surround you
Everywhere, everywhere
You may go.
