Children should wear clothing appropriate to the weather and suited for active play, both indoors and out. Since children will be working with clay, water paints, and the like, clothes that will not be damaged by such materials are recommended. Shoes that provide support for young children’s growing and developing muscles during outside and inside activities is necessary. Therefore, we recommend tennis shoes or sneakers. Children will be going outside days, according to state law, for a recreation period. Please remember in the winter to send mittens, boots, snow pants, hats and anything else that is appropriate to keep your child warm and comfortable. Also, please send rain coats and rain boots when it is raining and the ground is likely to be muddy. We will be going out in the rain if
it is 50 degrees or higher.
Children should wear clothing that they can easily learn to put on and take off themselves. All articles of clothing and boots must be marked with your child’s first name and last initial. This is a big help to both your child and the staff. Many children come to school with identical articles of clothing. A spring clothespin with the child’s name on it helps to keep boots together. Please do not send children to school with jewelry. It can get lost and some pieces are potential hazards that may prick or even choke your child if swallowed. We also ask that toys be kept at home. Smocks will be provided when children paint, however, paint can splash around the smocks and onto clothing. Your patience and understanding is greatly appreciated.
