Yoga

Yoga at Chapel School is an exciting and comprehensive program that not only benefits our children physically but mentally and emotionally as well. Our yoga program incorporates poses that stretch and strengthen the body as well as build flexibility, coordination and balance. Our young students are at a stage where they are increasing their body-awareness and they willingly participate in fun-filled classes designed to improve their ability to manage their bodies in space. With the use of puppets, children's literature and poetry in addition to pictures, music and fun props, the students at Chapel School develop an extensive repertoire of poses and breathing techniques. In addition to the physical aspects of yoga, the students spend lots of time working on social skills such as communication, sharing, problem-solving and working together as a team. We also explore our emotions and how to understand and communicate what we are feeling to other's in our lives. The children learn techniques for coping with challenging emotions and behaviors as well as how to express their emotions in positive and creative ways. Through the use of positive affirmations our young children learn to turn their thoughts into positive expressions. Yoga at Chapel School is a time spent laughing, moving and breathing while exploring and discovering more about ourselves and our world.
